With the release of Spider-man 2, a Spiderman party would be a really cool way to celebrate a spider-fan's birthday. Fun for kids and grown ups alike.
For starters, you could get someone who is pretty good at gymnastics or acrobats to dress as spiderman, and do some party tricks, somersaults.. you know. Entertain the guests. Better yet, if the birthday boy is willing, let him dress up in a spiderman costume his size to greet the guests. That would make a really memorable birthday for him. He'd really feel like a star.

I know for my kid, we got a spiderman cake for his birthday. He got to wear his costume and that really made his day.
If you'd like to go all the way, you could get yards of white string. Arrange the chairs like a spider web. you know. A small circle of chairs in the center, branching outwards. Then use tie the string around the legs of the chairs, to form a web.
You might want to draw out the layout on a piece of paper, and do the arrangement of the chairs and tying of the string according to your final plan.
To keep the guests occupied until everyone arrives, you might want to play some spiderman videos. Both the cartoon and the movie dvds would be great.
Have your regular party games. For charades, you could choose spiderman characters for the guests to act out. There are so many colorful characters in spiderman comics, it would be fun to see how your guests portray them.
How about dress up like your favourite superhero or villian. Get lots of colorful crepe paper and art materials. Divide your guests into teams and get them to dress a representative up as a character in the spiderman comics.
