Of all the flowers, I love the rose best. The fragrance of the rose is heavenly. Roses are a delight to behold. the many soft, pretty petals of a rose make these wonderful plants to grow in the garden, or the balcony if you live in an apartment.
I grow roses in hanging baskets in my home. These are placed directly in the sunlight, and they keep flowering.
Roses need plenty of sunlight, water, and regular rose food. Not too much though or you might kill the plant. The problem with roses is that the insects keep attacking my rose plants. Butterflies lay eggs beneath the leaves. Little black bugs hide under the leaves. Spiders spin their webs on my plants. That means everyday, roses need plenty of care. Insecticide to kill the pests. Regular pruning helps too. Mind the thorns though. I get pricked frequently, even through the gloves.
When a rose plant gets infested with bugs, I prune it. I cut off all the affected parts of the plant and let it grow back. My roses look so sad with their leaves stripped off and the stems cut to half what they used to be, yet with plenty of sun, water and some good fertilizer, new shoots grow back, and soon, the plant is covered with roses all over again. In fact, regular pruning is good for the roses
Rose essential oil is derived from the rose petals. Rose oil is the queen of the essential oils. A complex perfume on its own with many properties that make it useful in beauty preparations. A relaxing fragrance, rose essential oil is something I treat myself to when I can afford it.
