Spiderman loss of powers

In the movie, spider-man 2, Spiderman loses his powers.

Peter's life is in a mess because swinging around chasing the bad guys at night, holding on 2 jobs by day on top of meeting the expectations of his teachers in school is no mean task.
His grades are falling.
He loses both jobs.
The love of his life, Mary Jane gets engaged.. to another guy.
Everything was going wrong because he just does not have the time or energy to juggle so much on top of fighting crime as Spiderman. After John Jameson's announcement about his engagement to M.J., Peter takes to swinging around as Spiderman to get away for his problems but his powers start to fail.

The webs don't come out. He falls. Heights make him dizzy. It gets so bad that after a few steps up a wall, he falls. Even his vision reverts back to the way it was, before the spider bite.

After a good talk with a doctor, and his inner conversation with Uncle Ben's memory, he gives up being Spiderman.

He abandons his responsibility.. after all, he no longer has the great power. He is free to live his life. Free to court Mary Jane.

Spider-Man With Great Power #1

After the spider-bite, before the great responsibility! Meet Peter Parker, 'Midtown High's only professional wallflower,' a hapless young nerd suddenly gifted with great power - no strings attached! Happy at home with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, but plagued by the bullies and mean girls of high school, see what Peter does when the bite of a radioactive spider gives him the strength to take the things he wants. Fame? Money? Fast cars? Girls? This dweeb's up to his pencilneck in 'em! Surely things can't suddenly be this easy. It's a side of Spider-Man's early life you've barely glimpsed, written by David Lapham (Stray Bullets TERROR, INC.) with art by Tony Harris (Ex Machina)!

Spider-Man With Great Power #2

As Stan Lee wrote in the pages of AMAZING FANTASY #15 'Now anybody with the intelligence of a seven year old knows that if a man appeared on TV who seemed to be more spider than human, he'd be an overnight sensation!' For the first time, we peel back the curtain to see what Peter Parker's life was like after the bite but before the tragic death of his Uncle Ben. Professional wrestling, cars, girls, fame, money…ladies and gentlemen, meet Peter Parker, the wallflower bitten by a radioactive spider and given great power!

Spider-Man With Great Power #3

AMAZING FANTASY #15 introduced us to Spider-Man…and as it said in those pages, 'As his first TV spectacular ends, Peter Parker breathes the first sweet scent of fame and success!' Now for the first time ever, writer Dave Lapham (TERROR, INC.) and artist Tony Harris (Ex Machina) explore the story of Peter's heady days and sleepless nights living the celebrity life! As a wrestling superstar, show-stopping sensation and major moneymaker, this dweeb's hit it big! But even before being forced to discover that with great power must come great responsibility, will the ol' Parker luck rear its ugly head? How could it not?

This is so similar to Superman 2. In Superman 2, Superman gives up his powers to marry Lois. Both Spidey and Supes, in the second instalment of the respective movies lose their for love.

Is that consistent with the comics though? In the superman comics, Supes did lose his powers prior to marrying Lois. Actually, when the sun went out, he used all the power he had stored in his body, together with the other heros, to create a mini sun, to lure the sun eater away. After that, no more powers. Even after the sun came back, his powers did not return. After his wedding, he worked on all kinds of ways to get back his powers. He succeeded finally by going into the heart of the sun itself, protected in a special armour. His powers came back before the armour burnt off completely and things were back to normal for him.

As for Spidey. He does weaken when he is sick. There was a story, The Amazing Spider-man #86 and #87 where he loses his powers. It starts after his fight with kingpin. As he swings home, his head is reeling. He gets back to his room, and Mary Jane, Harry, Gwen and Captain Stacy are there, waiting for him. Gwen notices his bruises that he got from his fight. He can't tell her his secret and she thinks Spiderman beat him up. So she makes him promise not to have anything to do with Spiderman.

Hi dizziness worsens. He gradually weakens. He gets out as Spiderman, to get some fresh air, to clear his head. Along the way, he meets Black Widow who challenges him. As he loses his speed and strength, he barely manages to shake her off. He barely makes it back to his room.

A Science whiz, he tries to examine his blood under a microscope to find out if the radiation that gives him the powers is fading, but even his vision is blurred. Unlike the movies, spiderman in the comics does not want to lose his powers, so he tries to get help. In desperation, he changes to his spidey costume and swings to Doc Conner's apartment for help. Doc isn't home. His strength is waning. He loses his ability to cling to walls. He even loses his balance and falls off the ledge. He gives up.
