How To Draw Anime
I wrote a fantasy book and intended to illustrate it myself at first. For that, I had to draw the hero and heroine. Ideally, using manga drawing techniques. Anime men and women have large eyes, and compelling features. They are expressive. At first sight, the drawings looked deceptively simple until I actually tried drawing them.
It is best to base your drawings on a real person who is willing to model for you. Even then, a good book that teaches you step by step how to draw the body and the face would help a lot. The proportions have to be right in order for it to work. The height of the body, measured as how many heads tall, the limb length and the size of the features, plus the various expressions make all the difference. Someone who is a warrior would have shoulders one and a half times the width of an ordinary guy. So much is expressed in that single drawing.
